Types of Insurance

There are FOUR (4) types of insurance that you should have when travelling to Thailand

Compulsory

The “MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT VICTIMS ACT 1992” requires compulsory insurance for all vehicles entering and exiting Thailand. This insurance solely covers the cost of the parties’ treatment in the Thai hospital.

Voluntary (3rd party insurance)

It is strongly suggested that you take it. The insurance will protect you from third-party claims if you are involved in an accident. It also saves you from having to pay out unanticipated compensation.

Extension 101

This insurance is a continuation of the automobile insurance used in Malaysia. For example, if you live in Malaysia and are using Etiqa Takaful, you have to contact your insurance agent directly to obtain additional coverage while in Thailand.

Personal Travel Insurance

This form of insurance covers illness or sickness and supplements compulsory insurance if it is insufficient. AIA, AXA, and Tokyo Marine are a few examples.
